This year over spring break I visited The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. There was a great exhibit on display that I did not want to miss, "50 Greatest Photographs of National Geographic". What an impressive show! The images were amazing and it was nice to read about each one. In some cases the photographer has given additional information about the person or place in the photo that the viewer might not otherwise have known. Other images are shown with "near shots", the images taken just after or just before the shot National Geographic used. The show is on display until May 15th.
The Ringling College of Art and Design is having a contest for students in grades 7-12. The theme of the contest is Under the Same Sun. It is based on the book of the same title written by Sharon Robinson, daughter of baseball great Jackie Robinson. Please look at the web site for more details. The deadline to enter is May 5th. http://theringawards.com/about-the-contest/
